Why we built Open Counsel
Most people encounter legal questions at the worst possible moments — when they're signing a lease they don't fully understand, navigating a workplace dispute, or trying to start a business without knowing where to begin.
Hiring an attorney for every question isn't realistic. Legal aid is underfunded and overextended. And the internet is full of confusing, jargon-heavy information that leaves people more lost than when they started.
Open Counsel was built to fill that gap. We use AI to translate legal complexity into plain language — so you can understand what a contract actually says, know your rights as a tenant or employee, and walk into any legal situation with confidence.
